DUEG OUTREACH FACTOIDS

November 04, 2012 at the regular monthly meeting. Proposed by the Prexy while discussing possible activities before the end of year 2012.

Target area:

Sitio Dueg, Barangay Maasin, town of San Clemente, in the province of Tarlac, Island of Luzon.

Trivia: DUEG is a Pangasinense word meaning ‘carabao.’

San Clemente and Camiling towns, both in Tarlac, used to be part of the province of Pangasinan.

Beneficiaries:

Originally only Day Care pupils were targeted. Upon recommendation of Mr. Camba, goal was expanded to include 165 pupils of the Dueg Resettlement Elementary School.

Activities:

Word games, sack race, centipede race

Community merienda (snacks)

Soup consisted of elbow macaroni, vegetables and chicken meat

Note: A total of 200 soup bowls were served. Cooked on-site by the family of a local Kagawad/Pastor, who also assisted in the distribution.

Distribution of rubber slippers by grade level and by name.

Crayons, ball pens, pencils and miscellaneous items, quantities of which are insufficient for individual distribution were left under the care of the teacher for common use.

Member-participants contributed items which were used as prizes and giveaways.

Get-together and holiday meals for the participants were held at the rest house.

Note: Belle and Gina supervised the food preparation for the group. Ask them about the amazing ‘torta peche.’
